On January 28 the Fit for Purpose team returned to the vereda Termales to organize the second public inspection and collect the missing signatures. It was a successful day and almost everybody agreed on the boundaries of their parcels. The event finished early, whereafter they enjoyed a nice lunch.
After a socialization with de “Junta de Accion Comunal” of Costa Rica, the neighbouring village Termales, we measured almost 70 parcels in 4 days. We trained several local youngsters with the help of two grassroots surveyors that we know from our work in Termales.
Three months after handing out the first land titles in the vereda Los Mandarinos, we organized a new Public Inspection to complete the rest of the vereda.
The next day we also held an Inspection in La Balsa and El Tigre, where 160 signatures were collected.
One hour up the mountain by horse was what it took to get to La Linda. Once there, the field work was carried out in the 17 parcels of the vereda that were chosen by ANT for formalization. We will soon come back to hold a Public Inspection in La Linda.
On March 5, a public inspection was held in of San Jose de Apartadó. Together with ANT, the community of La Linda was invited to attend the public inspection at the local cacao distribution center. 90% of the signatures were collected.
The public inspection was carried out in the center of the village, with the participation of the majority of the community. The majority of the signatures were obtained and there was no discrepancy of boundaries. In 4 hours, 59 people were able to sign the boundaries of their properties. During this event, a video of the public inspection was made.
